Change to the Official Time Base Reference
Period for the Canadian CPI
Implications for Ontario RRBs
On June 19, 2007, Statistics Canada converted the official time base
reference period for the CPI from 1992 to 2002, and the Government of
Canada published the official conversion factor, rounded to three
decimal places, of 1.190. Pursuant to the terms and conditions of the
Ontario 2% Real Return Bond due December 1, 2036 (DMTN158, Cusip
683234XU7) the Reference Base CPI (RefCPIOriginal) is changed from
127.54839 to 107.18352. Index Ratios calculated on or after June 19,
2007 will be based on the new 2002 official time base reference period.
Index Ratios calculated on before June 18, 2007 using the 1992 official
time base reference period will not be revised.
